During the 2003-2004 campaign, Madrid-based Atletico entered into an extraordinary partnership with Columbia Pictures, resulting in an unprecedented 16 distinct shirt sponsors throughout the season. The innovative deal involved rotating the club's primary chest sponsor to coincide with each new film release, creating a marketing platform for cinema across their jerseys. This unusual arrangement remains among the most peculiar shirt sponsorship agreements ever seen in professional football. The Spiderman 2 iteration became the most recognizable of these 16 movie-branded shirts, representing a blockbuster film and eventually becoming a celebrated symbol of shirt sponsorship. The remaining sponsors featured films including Peter Pan, Zoro, Bad Boys II, Closer, Resident Evil 2, S.W.A.T, Hollywood Homicide, Hellboy, Hitch, xXx 2, The Rundown, Gothika, Big Fish, The Punisher, White Chicks and Anaconda.
