During the 2003-2004 campaign, Madrid-based outfit Atletico entered into an extraordinary arrangement with Columbia Pictures, resulting in an astonishing 16 unique shirt sponsors throughout that single year. The partnership functioned by rotating the primary sponsor whenever Columbia released a new film, using the shirts as a promotional medium to reach global audiences. Across football's rich history, few sponsorship agreements have matched this one's eccentricity. Among the 16 films represented, Spiderman 2 emerged as the most iconic and commercially successful, becoming instantly recognizable as a football kit sponsor. The remaining 15 titles included Peter Pan, Zoro, Bad Boys II, Closer, Resident Evil 2, S.W.A.T, Hollywood Homicide, Hellboy, Hitch, xXx 2, The Rundown, Gothika, Big Fish, The Punisher, White Chicks and Anaconda.
