The pinstripe period started in 1980, preceding the time of geometric designs. Called 'Santos', this initial pinstripe design featured a collar alongside a solid v-neck and represented the first template of its kind. Among the clubs adopting this style were France, Bordeaux, and Hamburg, alongside various other teams.
