The partnership between primary backer HanseMerkur and secondary partner Popp enabled this project through their decision to forgo their usual advertising placements. The jersey displays "UNS UWE", the well-known moniker associated with Seeler, across its front, and his iconic numeral "9" appears prominently on the right arm. Player squad numbers feature a nine positioned beneath them rather than the traditional HSV emblem. The pre-match preparation saw the squad don exclusive black training kits bearing Uwe Seeler commemorations.
