On April 5, 2025, FC Twente donned a commemorative jersey displaying 'Enschede 700' across the front during their match with Fortuna Sittard. The shirt was created to mark the city of Enschede's 700-year milestone, with the city receiving its original city rights approximately in 1300. In 1325, Bishop Jan III van Diest formally ratified these city rights, which granted Enschede the authority to construct defensive fortifications around itself.
