Birmingham City 2022-23 Arthur Memorial Kit
The Club honors Arthur Labinjo-Hughes’ birthday each year by raising funds for the NSPCC, with Blues players wearing special commemorative shirts that went on sale in the Club shop. Alongside the limited-edition jersey, Blues hit the total of £21,478 by selling Arthur teddy bears, auctioning off match-worn shirts, and fundraising in the stands during the game with Preston North End on January 21, 2023. Arthur Labinjo-Hughes (4 January 2014 – 17 June 2020) was a six-year-old child living in the West Midlands, England who was abused and subsequently killed by his carers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The boy was mistreated over the course of several months by his father, Thomas Hughes, and his father's partner, Emma Tustin. This culminated on 17 June 2020 with Tustin killing Arthur via blunt force trauma to his head. Tustin and Thomas Hughes were convicted on murder and manslaughter charges, respectively, in December 2021.
