During the 2003-2004 campaign, La Liga side Atletico Madrid featured an extraordinary 16 distinct shirt sponsors across the year through a unique arrangement with Columbia Pictures. The deal allowed the club to rotate their primary sponsor on their kit with each new film released by the studio, using football shirts as a global marketing platform. It remains one of the most eccentric shirt sponsorship agreements ever seen in professional football. The most recognizable of these 16 cinema-based sponsors was undoubtedly Spiderman 2, a blockbuster film that became a legendary shirt partner. The remainder included Peter Pan, Zoro, Bad Boys II, Closer, Resident Evil 2, S.W.A.T, Hollywood Homicide, Hellboy, Hitch, xXx 2, The Rundown, Gothika, Big Fish, The Punisher, White Chicks and Anaconda.
