adidas Originals has released a new Real Madrid retro collection built around its Equipment (EQT) line from the 1990s, unveiled on 25 August 2026. The release is a "what if" concept: Real Madrid were never actually supplied by adidas during the original EQT era of the early nineties, so the collection imagines how the club's kits might have looked had that partnership existed at the time.

The design

The jersey uses a white base with tonal vertical stripes woven into the fabric. The centrepiece is the EQT shoulder template from the era, rendered here as oversized geometric colour blocks in purple and black. The adidas wordmark and Trefoil sit centrally above the Real Madrid crest, and a thick white V-neck collar completes the retro silhouette.

The background

The collection is a deliberate piece of alternate kit history rather than a reissue of an existing shirt. adidas has leaned on its EQT archives for other retro drops before, but pairing the template with Real Madrid, a club it did not actually dress in that period, makes this release a pure design exercise for collectors rather than a historically accurate remake.
