Puma has unveiled Plymouth Argyle's home kit for the 2026-27 season, released on 24 May 2026 to mark the club's 140th anniversary. It is the Pilgrims' first season back in EFL League One, and the shirt makes a confident statement: deeper green, sharper details, and a design rooted in the history of the city it represents.

The design

The base colour is a noticeably darker shade of Argyle green, a direct response to supporter feedback gathered through a retail survey. Over that deep green runs a set of thin white vertical pinstripes, but look closer and the lines reveal their secret: each stripe is twisted into a rope pattern, a quiet nod to Plymouth's identity as an Ocean City with centuries of seafaring history.

The V-neck collar is white. On the right chest sits the Plymouth Argyle crest, a shield featuring a sailing ship and the "P.A.F.C." banner, rendered in tonal green and white. The Puma leaping cat logo sits on the left chest in cream. Classic Builders occupy the front sponsor position, with a lion rampant motif alongside the wordmark. Vertu sponsor the back of the collar. The shirt is made with Puma's RE-FIBRE recycled fabric technology.

The front carries the pinstripes in full; the back body is clean dark green with the pinstripe pattern continuing across the sleeves. The full kit pairs white shorts with white socks. For the first time in the club's history, the word "Argyle" appears on the socks.

The story

The rope-pinstripe concept draws an obvious line between the shirt and the city. Plymouth sits on the southwest coast of England and has been shaped by naval and maritime culture for centuries. The club crest itself carries a sailing ship, so threading that same maritime DNA into the fabric pattern gives the design genuine coherence rather than surface-level theming.

Supporters have drawn comparisons to the club's pinstriped shirts from the 1980s, and the reaction has been warmly positive. The rope detailing has been singled out as a particular highlight. At a moment when many kit releases rely on generic templates, Plymouth and Puma have produced something with a clear sense of place.
