Derby County's 2026-27 home kit from Puma is built around a detail that has a specific meaning. Six vertical greyscale stripes run down the centre of the front panel, each one representing one of the club's six core values and the different groups connected to it.

The design

The base is white. The six stripes run from the chest downward in a range of grey tones, creating a gradient effect without colour. The collar is a black V-neck with matching sleeve cuffs. The ram crest sits on the left chest in monochrome. Loaded is the front-of-shirt sponsor. Tonic Health Group appears on the sleeve.

At the back, below the collar, a multicoloured "The Rams" graphic picks up the stripe motif from the front and works it in a different register. It is the most visually distinctive part of the shirt. The construction is 100% knitted polyester with Puma's dryCELL moisture-management technology.

The stripes

The decision to encode the six values into the shirt design gives the stripes a fixed meaning rather than leaving them as pure decoration. Whether that reads on the pitch is a separate question, but it gives supporters something to point to when explaining what the shirt is about.
