Boca Juniors and adidas have released a commemorative jersey to mark 25 years since the club's back-to-back Copa Libertadores victories in 2001. The shirt is a standalone release rather than a regular season kit, designed specifically to honour that achievement.
The design
The jersey uses the club's victory blue as its base, with a wide yellow chest band carrying the Betsson sponsor. Yellow piping runs around the front panel, across the shoulders and around the sleeve cuffs. The adidas logo appears in yellow above the Boca Juniors crest, which is positioned centrally beneath it. Darker blue side panels continue down the body, and the sleeves carry Cetronogar branding in yellow.
Below the rear collar, the inscription "25 Años 2001" appears alongside a graphic of the Americas map, making the commemorative purpose of the shirt explicit. The match version also carries DirecTV branding on the lower back. The collar is a crew neck with yellow trim. The shirt is made from 100% polyester interlock with Climacool technology.
The story
The 2001 Copa Libertadores stands as one of the defining periods in Boca Juniors' modern history. The club won the tournament in both 2000 (played in 2001) and 2001, securing back-to-back continental titles and establishing a side that is still spoken of with reverence among Boca supporters. The 25th anniversary shirt uses the blue and yellow colourway associated with those kits to draw a direct visual link between that era and the present.
